London, 1924. Rumours abound in polite society about the Cosmopolitan Bookshop and its reclusive owner Edwin Chalmers. It is said that he can obtain any book for a price, no matter how esoteric or depraved its content. When a rare book is reported missing from the Bookshop's shelves, the ladies of Smythe's Discreet Investigations, London's first all-female detective agency, are surprised to be asked to look into it.

Victorian England - a team of amateur archaeologists excavating at Hadrian's Wall are distracted by odd dreams of the past and (surely unrelated) grisly deaths.
Description:
In the north of England, Hadrian's Wall once formed the northern frontier of the mighty Roman Empire, guarding it from the wild tribes (and, some say, less mundane horrors) beyond. However, by these enlightened days of the mid-nineteenth century, it has long since crumbled to a mysterious (if still striking) ruin. As amateur archaeologists (NOT treasure hunters, despite the slurs of some newspapers) you were excited to be invited by one of the local landowners to make the first scientific excavation of Vercovicium, a fort on his property. You could've wished that he seemed more interested in history and less in one-upping his neighbour, but you began with enthusiasm. This has only been slightly tempered by the strangely vivid dreams you've had of Roman times and the increasingly lurid rumours of a (naturally unrelated) series of grisly deaths amongst local people and livestock.

Britannia 226CE. A request for help comes to the Roman auxiliary soldiers of the Brotherhood of Mithras from a surprising source - druids living north of the Wall.
Description:
In 226CE Hadrian's Wall in Britannia (and the brave auxiliary soldiers who man it) provides the physical security for the northern frontier of the mighty Roman Empire. However, only some enlightened few understand the graver supernatural threats lurking among the dark forests and trackless marshes of the border region. Those few are yourselves, the Brotherhood, initiates into the Mysteries of Mithras serving among the auxiliaries at the Wall.
Last year you successfully saved both your fort, Vercovicium, and the warriors of the Votadini tribe to the north from a terrible fate. Even so, you were surprised to receive an urgent plea for assistance from a senior Votadini druid. Details are sparse, but it seems that some ancient power has been disturbed and Romans may be to blame. It's likely, once again, that only you have the skills to solve the mystery before it's too late.

Smythe's Discreet Investigations has been hired by Lady Carruthers to check into the background of the man who wishes to marry her orphaned niece. A completely routine investigation - or is it?
Description:
Smythe's Discreet Investigations is London's first, and so far only, all-female detective agency. The request from the Dowager Lady Carruthers to check into the background of the man who wishes to marry her orphaned great-niece -- heir, with her sisters, to the sizeable Carruthers fortune -- seems to be nothing out of the ordinary. Is Richard devoted to Dorothea or just after her money? Or will he impolitely simply disappear as her previous fiance did?
